Weekly Updates 2

Palladium Books® Weekly Update – Feb. 3, 2017

By Kevin Siembieda

One reason 2016 was light on product releases was that we have been quietly working on products and plans to be unveiled in 2017 and 2018. Plans that include pretty much all of our game lines. Step one, to get The Rifter® back on schedule, and we’ll get close with issue number 77. Step Two, get products people have been waiting for out and into your hands. At the top of that list is Robotech® RPG Tactics™ Wave Two. Step Three, to support our many game lines more regularly and fully. Step Four, to continue to expand our reach into other areas with licenses like Rifts® for Savage Worlds and the Rifts® Board Game, as well as other areas such as comic books, videogames, film and television. Step Five, to push the envelope and wow you every step of the way.

There are some things I wish I could tell you about right now, but cannot for strategic reasons, or because they are third party efforts still in the negotiation or development stage. But good things, small and large, are coming. We’ll be starting with the fundamentals, getting product into your hands and some changes and additions we think you will enjoy.

Like what? Hmmm, well, you will be seeing a new look to our website that makes it more mobile device friendly. A weekly podcast is coming from me and Charles Walton II talking about game design, running and creating RPG adventures and campaigns, the history of Palladium and all the stuff behind role-playing games. And, with any luck, some big surprises that have been in development for a long time. But our biggest focus is on product that will please and blow your mind.

UPDATE: Robotech® RPG Tactics – 2017 release

I know it has taken a very long time to fulfill this Kickstarter, and for that I am very sorry. More sorry than some of you may be able to imagine. But we are dedicated to getting Wave 2 done and in your hands by the end of 2017. Not only that, but we want to make it amazing. Our Kickstarter backers and fans have waited so long for RRT Wave 2, that if we can make improvements we want to do so. We have been frustrated by many aspects of production that clash with what we know would make a superior product. Moreover, we want to offer organized play support, scenario books, and the next several Waves of RRT products. We have never given up on our dream to make Robotech® RPG Tactics™ amazing.

We are working on something exciting right now that, if it pans out, could change everything and help us bring you RRT Wave Two by the end of 2017. We want to bring Robotech® to life on the table top like never before, and we are working hard to make this happen.

We have not released details these many months because everything has been in motion, and still is. There have been times when we thought we had firm plans for moving forward, only to have something occur to change them – good or bad. Case in point, we had pretty much resigned ourselves to being unable to significantly lower the part count in the RRT game pieces. However, we are suddenly readdressing that as we explore new possibilities that have surfaced. In fact, I have spent most of the week on this very matter. We are working on all of this with the desire to bring you something great, not just crap it out to be done with it. We have big dreams for Robotech® on several fronts, and are trying to make them all happen. To that end we have had many positive and exciting conversations with Harmony Gold and other interested parties. I know it is a lot to ask, but please hang in there with us. We think we have something truly fun brewing.

On a smaller scale, Harmony Gold has approved our proposal and art concepts for the first RRT Scenario Book and our plans for the Ghost Fleet Saga™ series.

The RRT Macross® Saga Scenario Book One will present mission scenarios based on the first half of the Robotech® Macross® Saga era of the television show. That means many missions and battles that are part of the iconic events, characters and story of the Robotech® Macross® Saga. RRT Macross® Saga Scenario Book Two is already in development and will provide all the remaining chapters of the Robotech® Macross® Saga.

The Ghost Fleet Saga™ is expected to be a series of RPG adventure sourcebooks that will create new Robotech® RPG and RRT factions and settings to game in. The time period is the decade between the UEEF’s departure from Earth and their return in New Generation. This means the setting incorporates the mecha of several Robotech® eras (Macross® Saga, The Masters Saga, New Generation and the beginnings of Shadow technology). The UEEF uses the new (and dangerous) Shadow technology in covert operations against the Regent and his Invid and Inorganics, as well as space pirates and renegade Zentraedi. This series will offer a wide range of stories, new mecha and adventures in space and on alien worlds.

Palladium Books® Weekly Update – Jan. 27, 2017

By Kevin Siembieda

I had planned to tell you a lot about our plans for 2017 in this Update, but this has been another harrowing and busy week. Moreover, I pulled something in my back last night and I am in a lot pain and finding it difficult staying focused. I’m waiting for my chiropractor to get to the office in another three hours. Couldn’t sleep most of the night. As a result, I’m going to wait on exciting details and just focus on some of the key things you will want to know about. The first of which is Palladium’s annual Rifter® Super-Subscription Offer which starts now.

The Rifter® Super-Subscription Offer – available now!

The Rifter® Super-Subscription Offer is cool, because you get four issues of The Rifter® at a substantial discount, FREE shipping in the USA, and you get to pick from one of seven FREE GIFT choices worth $20.95 to $43.85 – if you want one. There is a fee for postage and handling of the gift item, and you may decline the gift if you wish. As always, I have tried to make the gift choices fun, with a little something for everyone. And as many of you know, The Rifter® has been better than ever with an increasing amount of “official” source material most every issue. Remember, the material can usually be cannibalized and adapted to any world setting, not just the one it was specifically written for.

See the full description for The Rifter® 2017 Super-Subscription Offer in the online store. This offer only comes ONCE a year, for a limited time, and it is here now!

The Rifter #76

UPDATE: The Rifter® #76 – Ships February 10

Another great issue, more than half of which is “official” source material to add spice and adventure to your games. So much good source material that we had to go 9 point type to squeeze it all in. “Official” for Rifts® and Palladium Fantasy®: The Primorda presents new Elemental beings and their monstrous riding animals (and some magic items that can be made from them). For Heroes Unlimited™ and Ninjas and Superspies™ there is an adventure of villainy and terrorism that can serve as a springboard for many more adventures across the globe. Splicers® gets the next big chapter in the I am Legion adventure source material as we wind up toward the big climax. And more! This issue is jam-packed with good material.

Palladium Books® Weekly Update – Jan. 19, 2017

By Kevin Siembieda

Whew, we’ve spent a lot of time in the warehouse this week with the last of the Surprise Packages. When not, we’ve been working on one product or another. For me that means coordination, assigning art, writing, editing, and wheeling and dealing. In short, we have been busy as all get out.

Surprise Package offer ended with a bang. A great many of you waited to purchase your Palladium Surprise Package until the last weekend. Kathy had been processing orders all weekend, so she was not expecting to see 119 pages of orders Monday morning from just Sunday sales alone! It was a welcomed surprise, but it meant a very busy start to our week.

We signed and packed more than 600 books in just the first two days of the week. As you might imagine, that took pretty much an entire day by itself. Julius spent one day just pulling the books. Then, I spent hours double-checking and signing them all, writing notes and trying to make sure they were all special. The rest of the available crew were right behind me, signing away. Many of the UPS orders went out on Monday. Regular orders, Priority and remaining UPS Grab Bag orders when out on Tuesday. Wednesday, the rest of the orders (60 or 70) went out. Only a handful requiring a bit more time and finesse went out today. So if you ordered a Surprise Package last weekend, it is on its way to you.

As always, your brief comments were fun, funny, touching and appreciated. It was nice to see a good number of new customers, a trend we’ve noticed for the last few years now. It was even more rewarding to see names and read comments from those of you who had left gaming for awhile, but are getting back into it. For many it was a matter of work, or marriage and children, or life in general getting in the way and stealing your time away from gaming. Whatever the reason, welcome back! It is great to see you again. Stick around because we are going to blow your minds with what we have in mind for ALL our games.

Two of our four heating units in the warehouse stopped working last Friday afternoon, so it has been chilling in the warehouse. I think Julius must be part Eskimo by now. One needed a new thermostat, the other requires repairs yet to be determined. Our heating repair guy can’t get to it till early next week, so we’re all happy it is supposed to be unseasonably warm the next several days; 40s and low 50s. Crazy weather. Other than that, we have been working on many titles and projects I spoke about in the last Weekly Update.
