I hope those of you here in the USA enjoyed a pleasant long weekend this past Labor Day. I had hoped to get a lot of writing done since it would be quiet, but I was a bit under the weather and that didn’t happen. I’m happy to say that I’m presently writing up a storm!

People have been really enjoying me doing my dragon head sketch inside the various limited Collector Gold Editions, so I will try to continue to do so through next week. Thanks for making me feel special. I hope my extra effort makes you feel special as well, because you are special to me, to all of us.

There has also been a lot of excitement over my sale at my Ebay store in regard to out of print, signed Gold Editions (even a Fantasy RPG hardcover, Machinations of Doom™, Lemuria™, NG 1 & 2 hardcovers, etc.), other out of print and signed books, original artwork and one-of-a-kind negatives all selling like hot cakes. People are loving the Rifts® Bestiary™ Volume One. Artist Mark Dudley dropped by and went wild over it, the new creatures, and the new artwork, especially Chuck Walton’s art. He also loved what he saw of Garden of the Gods™ and snagged himself a Raw Edition even though the finished book will be released soon. He also gave us the thumbs up on Titan Robotics™, In the Face of Death™, and a couple other books in progress. Which only got me more excited about all the titles in the works. That’s good, because I have been writing up a storm since 8:00 A.M. this morning.

2021 Palladium Open House (POH) – 40th Anniversary Celebration – First wave of admissions to be offered in a few weeks

With the holiday weekend and all, it was not a good time to speak with hotels to nail down dates. I will try to do that by the next Weekly Update so we can make the first wave of Admissions to the 2021 POH available in a few weeks.

We hyped up the 2021 Palladium Open House (POH) at Gen Con, even handing out flyers. Well, anticipation is growing to the point that we’ve had a number of people reach out to us to ask when tickets might go up for sale. Due to popular demand, I will try to make the first wave of admissions tickets available in 2-3 weeks.

First, I need to nail down the dates with a couple of hotels. The event will be, as usual, held at the end of April or beginning of May. The reason is the event is held in our warehouse, which we can heat, but cannot air-condition, so we shoot for a time of year where the temperature is moderate and comfortable. We also have to work around a big University of Michigan event that books hotels for miles around. All of that is very doable with hotel prices generally ranging from $70-$150 per night.

This will be Palladium’s 40th Anniversary so we want to pull out all the stops and hope to bring in a record number of Palladium creators and friends. Size and available parking limits us to only about 300 attendees, so we recommend getting admissions early. As usual, we will offer tickets in 2 or 3 waves so everyone gets a chance to attend. Wave One should be made available in two or three weeks.

UPDATE: Garden of the Gods^™ (Fantasy) – in final production

Writing. Very happy with blessings, miracles and curses from the gods as well as the plethora of artifacts and 40+ forgotten gods (which I’m still working on). Items and aspects of the Garden that should get players and Game Masters very excited about their Fantasy adventures. I continue to bounce around from one subject to another, but I’m starting to wrap them up now. It has all been a blast, but time consuming as much of this book involves stats and game balance. Of course, you’ll love it, so it is worthwhile. Besides, the Garden of the Gods™ is epic, and helps to set up several Palladium Fantasy titles in the works or done and waiting for final edit and tweaking.

Garden of the Gods™ is packed with magic artifacts, holy weapons, blessings, miracles, visions, curses, intrigue, and all kinds of great stuff for players and hundreds of adventure hooks for Game Masters. This book has so much flavor it should give players and Game Masters all kinds of avenues of adventure. There are some unexpected dangers and bad guys, and good guy NPCs or player characters like the Knights Fossar, the super-cool and redefined Fossar Wardens (keepers of the Order’s secrets), Champions of the Gods, and so much more. You will absolutely love this book.

UPDATE: The Rifter^® #84 – September release

Some of the artwork is in and looks great. The articles are all fun and interesting. The material is being edited, and I think I need to assign a bit more artwork. Another great issue.

UPDATE: Dead Reign^®: In the Face of Death^™

I’m itching to finish writing this book. Getting some feedback and ideas from some of my freelance writers too. An end of September or more likely October release.

UPDATE: Rifts^® Chaos Earth^® – Psychic Scream^™

The artwork for Psychic Scream is looking good. I’m hot to finish this bad boy. I need to assign the rest pronto. If the description for Psychic Scream™ doesn’t get your heart pumping, I don’t know what will! Fall release.

UPDATE: Rifts^® Titan Robotics^™ – Fall release

The artwork for this book is really impressive. A ton of toys for players and ideas for Game Masters. Robots and power armor galore, but also the inner workings of Titan Robotics and Archie Three’s schemes. More and more finished artwork and concept sketches are arriving every week and are looking fabulous. I continue to make notes and we are all pumped up about this power armor, robot, and weapon filled sourcebook.

UPDATE: Rifts^® Antarctica^™ – Fall or Winter Release

Nothing new to report. I think Rifts® Antarctica™ is going to surprise and delight a lot of people. It is also a great example of the fun you can have with the Raw Editions. The sold out Rifts® Antarctica Raw Edition is a far cry from what the finished book is going to be. Those of you who bought the Raw Edition get a glimpse at Palladium’s creative process. When you compare the two, you’ll see what we kept, what we eliminated, what we added, and how we embellished the material to reach the creative finale of the finished book coming this fall or winter. Fun and educational for those of you who aspire to be writers yourself or just like to have the inside track at Palladium. And true of all Raw Editions vs the finished book. Probably a fall or winter release.

As always, just because a book is not specifically listed in every Weekly Update, it does not mean it is discontinued or in limbo, it means there are more immediate things to talk about or there’s no substantive news to report. We are anxious to put as many of the books you’ve been waiting for into your hands as possible over the next 18 months. That includes Chaos Earth® First Responders™, Rifts® Antarctica, Rifts® CS Arsenal™, Rifts® Living Nowhere™, Beyond the Supernatural™ sourcebooks, more Fantasy sourcebooks and other titles. We continue to rock n’ roll on all fronts, moving all projects forward. I’m focused on the next couple of books, Wayne should be emailing the Rifts® Bestiary PDF to our Megaverse® Insiders in a few days as well as working on The Rifter® #84 and working on items for posting on DriveThru.

Chuck finished the tight, detailed pencils to the spectacular Rifts® Bestiary Vol. 2 cover, and will be sending it off to his digital painter. I also approved a number of Chuck’s concept designs for robots and vehicles in Titan Robotics™. Other artists’ artwork has also been coming in for Titan Robotics™, Chaos Earth® Psychic Scream™, and other books.

We have shipped about half of the Rifts® Bestiary™ Megaverse® Insider items – the PDF will start to be emailed in the next few days. And while I have been putting most of my efforts into the epic Garden of the Gods™ (Fantasy), I’ve also been working on a few other things as inspiration strikes.

The Rifts® Bestiary™ Gold Edition hardcover is shipping now. As I announced last week, since I’m in the groove of drawing dragon head sketches for the Megaverse® Insider books, I have been randomly adding my trademark large dragon head sketch to most of the Gold Editions ordered this week and I will continue to do so throughout the weekend and into next week.
