Weekly Updates 2

Palladium Books® Weekly Update – June 4, 2015

By Kevin Siembieda

Someday, I think I’m going to make a T-shirt that says, “Nothing is easy.” Because everything seems to require more time and work than you would imagine going into it. And even easy stuff can go sideways at times. Nothing’s easy. Well, except maybe this Update, because I’m going to keep it short. Why? Because we are involved in a bunch of products and projects and we need to get back to them.

UPDATE: Palladium Open House Report

I wrote all about the 2015 Open House. It’s divided between five Murmurs, Parts 1-5. I hope people read Part 4 and Part 5 especially, because I think some of the best stuff is found in those two chapters. POH Part 5 includes the “Favorite Moments” of the POH for the Palladium staff. Some are quite funny. Thanks again for making the Open House fun and inspirational. My imagination hasn’t shut down since.

A selection of POH video clips should be hitting YouTube over the next few weeks. We’ll keep you posted.

Meanwhile, don’t miss the video interviews of me, Chuck Walton, Rex Barkdoll, Matthew Clements, Greg Diaczyk and other Palladium Creators on the Through Gamer Goggles website. They’re pretty fun.

Palladium Books® Weekly Update – May 28, 2015

By Kevin Siembieda

It has been non-stop action since the Palladium Open House.

Over the holiday weekend I took a little time off, but worked six hours both Saturday and Sunday, and put in a full regular, 10 hour day on Monday. Between the excitement of the Palladium Open House and seeing the Mad Max: Fury Road movie (loved it), I was filled with ideas, and spent most of the weekend writing. I did some work on Robotech®, Rifts® and Beyond the Supernatural™. Felt pretty hot writing too. Good stuff all around.

Tuesday, we all spent half the day in the warehouse helping Julius, pack and ship products. People are pretty excited about the slew of new products since the Open House, with the two “RAW Manuscript previews,” T-shirts and prints selling like crazy. I’m glad to see so many of you enjoying the many new products. I personally love the new Palladium Fantasy, Game Master and Rifts® T-shirts, as well as the mouse pads and prints.

When I wasn’t writing or packing boxes, I’ve been taking care of business matters. There are some exciting things brewing as we have a couple of new companies outside the game industry eye-balling two different Palladium I.P.s (intellectual properties) for possible development. And neither is Rifts® orRobotech®. More on this front if and when things move forward. I have a call with one company on Friday. That said, there is a feeling here that Palladium’s fortunes are rising, with an increasing number of possible licensing deals brewing and more people seeming to contacting us every few weeks. Personally, I dream of a day in the near future when there is a Rifts® movie in the works (come on JB Films, please), a couple of TV shows, a videogame or two, and other licenses based on Palladium’s many I.P.s as well as a bunch of things we want to do ourselves. Wouldn’t that be nice? Hey, I can dream, can’t I? Most of the rest of the time and I’ve been writing the Open House Report and bits and pieces of books.

Palladium Books® Weekly Update – May 21, 2015

By Kevin Siembieda

There are more than a dozen new products described in this Update. All are available now in Palladium’s online store. And there are a fair amount things going on. I hope you enjoy this Weekly Update during the holiday weekend.

The 2015 Palladium Open House ended on Sunday, May 17, and it was nothing short of fantastic. Many people told me they thought it was the best one they had ever attended. Gamers new to the Open House were amazed, saying they had never seen anything like it and that it was the best convention they had ever attended. Awesome. That was exactly the reaction we had hoped for.

Likewise, new guests and old friends who had never been to an Open House, such as Jolly and Barbara Blackburn, Tina Simmons, Victor Peterson and Matthew Balent (and his family), were equally blown away. It was awesome having Jolly and Matt B. at the Open House, because it had been years seen we’d last had a chance to see each other, sit and chat. We videotaped everything, but had audio-visual difficulties (we made a poor choice of camera)! Which is a shame, because the panel talks between me and Jolly Blackburn and me and Matthew Balent were nothing short of epic . . . at least for me. So was the closing ceremony in which I was pretty “on” and had the audience laughing throughout the two hours. We had a great time. We do have some video that should be usable, and we will post what we can soon.
